Bringing creativity to South Africa

Wednesday 30 November 2011

In collaboration with the Dutch Tjommie Foundation (www.tjommie.nl) DYW will in late January 2012 together with an international team of creative people travel to the village Elandsdoorn in South Africa for about 8 days.

The village is a unique project for HIV/AIDS-affected families, where they have the opportunity to live together, and also have free access to schooling, shopping, sports and leisure activities, and most importantly medical care.

At Elandsdoorn we will among other things organize drawing workshops for children and young people in the village, with the joint theme “Draw Your World”.
We document our experiences in Elandsdoorn through moving images, photos, etc. The material will subsequently be used in an educational context, and as documentaries about Elandsdoorn in different relevant media.

The involvement at Elandsdoorn is a pilot project for the DYW-organization, and we look forward to get started and gain a lot of experience on our path to bring out creativity to children and young people throughout the world.

Gaby Thijsse and Kasper Heron Købke have each put one of their art pieces on auction to raise money for our collaboration with Tjommie Foundation at Elandsdoorn, which took place at Tjommie Foundation’s big gala event in Holland on 19th November.
So now we turn to you, in the hope that you would like to donate a contribution to our project in South Africa so that we can begin to bring out the creativity to as many children and young people as possible worldwide.

We are grateful for all contributions, large and small.

So together let us make this happen, because it’s time to Draw Your World. Support Draw Your World here!
